JJon Foster is a drummer active in music performance and recording. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University in 2012 and a Masters in Music Performance from the University of Toronto in 2014.
Jon has been building a reputation as a capable, diverse drummer across a myriad of styles working with artists including Shaky Knees, Brooklyn Doran, Dan McKinnon, The Royal Streets, Coco Love Alcorn, EXIL, Max River, and Zerbin. He can be heard on numerous recordings with these and other artists. At present he is also employed by York University, The School of Contemporary Dance Theatre, and The School of Toronto Dance Theatre as a music accompanist for dance classes.
Currently, Jon is establishing himself internationally having toured Australia, Germany, Denmark, USA, China, and Japan with a variety of original artists. He has performed at the Toronto International Jazz Festival as well as the Aarhus Jazz Fest and the Copenhagen Jazz Festival in Denmark with his own trio 'EXIL'.
As a producer, Jon recently released 'Volume One' by Collective Order, a collaborative jazz project he created that features 18 of Toronto's Jazz musicians. Jon plans to continue developing his experience as a performer and session musician while also spending time focusing on composition for film and songwriting with co-collaborators including Noel Thomson, Dan Moxon and JP Maurice.
